Andrea Sparks: Andrea Galliano Sparks is the Administrator for the Texas Governor’s new Child Sex Trafficking Unit. The Unit will provide leadership, support and coordination to state and local entities to prevent child sex trafficking and provide restorative services to its victims. Andrea previously served as Executive Director of the Texas Regional Office, National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, helping law enforcement, the child welfare system and other professionals protect and recover children from abduction and child sexual exploitation. Andrea was also the Director of Public Affairs for Texas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), advocating on behalf of children in the foster care system and raising awareness to improve their well-being. Andrea is a lawyer and has represented children and families in child protective services, juvenile justice and adoption cases and has worked as a staff attorney at the Texas Supreme Court.
Andrea is a founding board member of Strong Start, an organization that prevents child abuse and neglect by working with high risk children and their families. She is on the board of SAFE – Stop Abuse for Everyone and active in both the National Charity League and Young Men’s Service League.
Andrea is a graduate of Tulane University and University of Texas School of Law. She is married to Grant Sparks, an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District, and they have two children, Maddie 18 and J.T. 15, and two dogs, Red and Boomer.
